Fixing Microsoft Store app missing on Windows 10 build 17110

#1

After the installation of the Windows 10 build 17110, part of the Redstone 4 update, a number of users have been reporting that the Microsoft Store app is missing. The icon doesn’t appear in the taskbar and nothing will show up in the Start menu.

Microsoft is aware of this issue and it’s currently investigating the cause, but in the meantime, in the Microsoft Forums, the company is offering the temporary workaround to fix this issue and bring back the Microsoft Store app to Windows 10 build 17110.

  1. Open Start.

  2. Search for Windows PowerShell, right-click the top result, and select Run as administrator.

  3. Copy and paste the following command and press Enter:

    Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

  4. Restart your computer.

When executing the command, you may see an error message, but it’ll still work. After restarting your PC, you should be able to open the Microsoft Store again.
